Road Works

Inforoutière visual

IllustrationThis section contains information on the nature of the work on the highway system, the slowdowns it causes and the lane closing schedule in every region of Québec. This information is updated regularly, as the work progresses, and can be consulted by region , by highway or by a clickable map . To give travellers a general picture of the condition of the road network and plan their trips more efficiently, the MTQ screens the information circulated. Therefore, information on certain secondary roads under the MTQ’s responsibility or certain work that is specific, short-term or has no effect on traffic is not circulated.

Source of Information

Circulation of information to the general public is an integral part of the MTQ’s priorities. Aware of the disruptive effects that road work can have, the MTQ has adopted information transmission procedures and distribution tools to reach road users and its various partners. To accomplish this, a team regularly updates the road work information circulated via Inforoutière. As road work progresses, the information is entered in the internal computerized information distribution system and transferred within minutes to the MTQ website and telephone line. The data are also transmitted by various means (press releases, notices, etc.) to many MTQ partners (police forces, emergency services, municipalities, etc.) and to the regional and national media.

Slowdowns caused by road work are presented on the website as follows:

  • Slowdown : None

  • Slowdown : Weekends
The work slows down traffic only on weekends
  • Slowdown : Weekdays

  • Slowdown : Permanent

  • Slowdown : Major (weekdays or weekends)
